VANESSA CRESS LOKOS

Artist Statement “Moments"

This series of figurative work in oil evolved from capturing moments, some fleeting, all temporary.
They are reflections of our relationships, to each other, to our surroundings and ultimately a look at ourselves.

Short biography

Award-winning Burlington artist Vanessa Cress Lokos' has studied, exhibited and sold internationally. Her work can be found in private and corporate collections in Canada, Australia and Barbados. Vanessa is a member of the Ontario Society of Artists, Burlington Fine Arts Association, Arts and Culture Council of Burlington, Hamilton Artist Inc. and the Canadian Glaze Oil Society.

Although the artist's works include exploration in acrylic, photography, printmaking and installation, she always returns to her love of glaze oil painting. Through traditional techniques she is able to achieve luminous colour and depth. The infinite possibilities from a minimal palette never ceases to amaze and delight. Recent paintings include figures and are observations of human interactions and relationships. Irony, playfulness and the unexpected are often conveyed in her work. The greatest compliment to the artist is when the viewer has connected to a piece and continues the story for themselves.
Vanessa holds a BA - Concentration Visual Arts from the University of Ottawa.
